Lesson 1 (Clave and Introduction to Salsa)

In this first lesson we will be talking about the Cuban clave and its history.
Also a brief introduction to salsa, where it comes from and how it was formed.

You will learn the rhythm of the clave , and how to play on it!
And you will play your first Montuno


Lesson 2 (Investments)

Inversions are essential to find different colors in your montunos. A harmonic progression can sound different if we change its inversions.

In this lesson we are going to learn about inversions and how we can use them in the montunos. You will also be able to hear how everything changes when we move the inversions.


Lesson 3 (Bass in Salsa)

It is extremely important to understand the bass pattern in salsa music!
Even if we are not bassists, knowing what the bass is doing is already half the journey.

In this lesson we are going to learn the salsa bass pattern and also how to play the bass and the montuno at the same time, this will help you develop rhythmic independence.


Lesson 4 (The 5th and the Minor 7th)

You've probably heard the sound of this combination in 100,000 salsa songs! Maybe more.

In this lesson we are going to learn the trick of the minor 5th and 7th.
We continue to develop language, tricks and phrases that we can use in our montunos, the art of music is a language, the more words we know, the better we can express ourselves.

You will also learn a new montuno.


Lesson 5 (Mordents and Chromatics)

More words, better language.

In this lesson we are going to learn the use of mordents and chromatics .
It's incredible the difference these techniques can make to your montunos, the mordents and chromatics connect and fill.

Lesson 6 (The little machine)

This is the secret to a big, full montuno!
This trick has been used in Cuban Timba for many years.

We are going to learn this trick, "The little machine" That's what I call it.
and after this lesson your montunos will be at another level!


Lesson 7 (Open and Closed Montunos)

Two ways to make montunos in this lesson! Open montunos and closed montunos.
These are used for different parts of a song.

You will learn the difference between open montuno and closed montuno, where and how to use them.

You will also learn a new montuno.


Lesson 8 (Montunos Sung)

Another way to make montunos. These summons can be very powerful.
Closed montuno, open montuno, sung montuno.

You will learn a new montuno.

You will learn what a sung montuno is, how to use it and how to combine it!
